RISC-V Worldwide, the group behind the open supply RISC-V semiconductors, has warned that export restrictions would harm all the business.
In response to Reuters, US lawmakers are contemplating imposing export restrictions on RISC-V as a part of their ongoing efforts to isolate China and restrict its entry to superior semiconductor tech.
Calista Redmond, CEO of the RISC-V group, is warning that such motion would have critical penalties.
“Contemplated actions by governments for an unprecedented restriction in open requirements may have the consequence of diminished entry to the worldwide market of merchandise, options, and expertise,” Redmond wrote. “Bifurcating on the requirements stage would result in a world of incompatible options that duplicate effort and shut off markets.”
