Iraq says it has blocked the Telegram messaging app over considerations concerning nationwide safety and customers’ private information.
In line with Reuters, Iraq’s telecoms ministry made the choice, saying it requested Telegram shut down “platforms that leak the info of the official state establishments and the private information of residents… however the firm didn’t reply and didn’t work together with any of those requests.”
“The Ministry of Communications affirms its respect for residents’ rights to freedom of expression and communication, with out prejudice to the safety of the state and its establishments,” the assertion stated.
