An Australian Senate committee is recommending WeChat be banned from authorities gadgets, very similar to TikTok.
Australia joined the US, UK, Canada, and the EU, banning TikTok from authorities gadgets in April 2023. In keeping with AP Information, the Australian Committee on Overseas Interference by Social Media is recommending that ban be prolonged to incorporate WeChat, the favored messaging app that can also be primarily based in China.
“It tackles each the issues posed by authoritarian-headquartered social media platforms like TikTok and WeChat and Western-headquartered social media platforms being weaponized by the actions of authoritarian governments together with Fb, YouTube and Twitter,” Committee chair James Paterson informed reporters.
